What Are Botox & Filler Treatments?
As part of our natural aging process, our skin becomes less elastic and more fragile. It produces less natural skin oils, which causes your skin to be drier than in your younger years. At the same time, we lose some of the fat cells underneath our skin. When these factors combine, fine lines and eventually deeper wrinkles start appearing in our skin.
How Do Botox & Fillers Work?
While commonly combined to eliminate the appearance of wrinkles and fine lines, Botox and fillers are actually separate treatments.
Botox works by paralyzing the muscles beneath and around the injection site so they don’t contract. Fillers use hyaluronic acid to increase the volume of the skin, making the skin fuller and stretching out wrinkles and fine lines so they disappear.
Botox and fillers can be used on the following areas of the face:
- the forehead to reduce frown lines
- the corners of the eyes to reduce crows feet
- the top of the nose to smooth where horizontal lines can appear
- at the sides of the nose to eliminate bunny or nasalis lines
